Between 1965 and 1973 the former inhabitants of the Chagos archipelago in the centre of the Indian Ocean were expelled from their homeland to make way for a joint UK and US military base on the island Diego Garcia. They have ever since fought compensations and their right to return. Clement Siatous is a displaced Painter now living on the outskirts of Port Louis, Mauritius.
